Composer´s incompetents

What on earth can a composer do? It’s as if music can comfort us or give us strength through music, just like a painted cake. Every time I watch the news about Ukraine, I am disappointed by my dreamlike sense of justice. As a small act of resistance, I composed Footprints last year, a piece protesting against the war.

Music and politics cannot be separated at all, as they are also art and politics. It is not enough to look firmly at own world, but you can’t just pick up a gun and call out against war either. Unfortunately, it is impossible to stop war with music. 77 years of peace is wobbling.
