Help find Hildegard in Kabul!

When I think of our womensright fighters, I am ashamed of how lazy and comfortable I am. The reports from Afghanistan tell me that Afghan women are not allowed to go to school, not to the beauty salon, and not to be alone on the street. What a life! They can’t even protest against it. The burqa is an iron face mask. If I write protest music, it sounds like a pretty cowardly excuse: at least I wrote protest music. Or is that better than nothing? I don’t know.

Sometimes I think I should send the Taliban a letter bomb – if I could. Somewhere there should be a figure like Hildegard von Bingen in Kabul, overwhelming the Taliban with her speeches and singing. Oh, how foolish such a dream! Nevertheless, I sacrificed three red roses for the music.
