Berlin 1989 – Vienna 2025

The premiere of the Berliner Tagebuch finally comes to Vienna! It has been 35 years since the first performance. Yoriko Ikeya plays the piano. She recorded this piece on CD in 1994. At the performance, I will be reciting excerpts from my diary.

The years 89 and 90 were turbulent for Berlin and for me.

I was a single mother with a nine-year-old child, a musical director of a small theater, and an Italian boyfriend in Rome. As my diary describes, I composed very directly and concisely, without concern for musical rhetoric, and without sketches. Sound happens in the same way as the events to which it refers happened.
